In 2021, Kalmyks and Mongolian speaking people celebrate Tsagan Sar on February 12th. The traditional greeting – Үвләс менд hарвта? Have you survived the winter? – means that the hard winter time is over and the spring is coming. In 1990s, I recorded Tsagan Sarin long song, which for generations was performed by Kalmyks (Bag Derbets). Today I am happy to sing it with my son, with deep gratitude to Bakur Bochkaeva (b. 1920) and Chudna Lidzhieva (b.1921), preserving for us this beautiful song.
